Olympics

The 2012 London olympic sport i’m about to write about is Judo, but first of all i’m going to tell you about and what our writing assignment is. Our assignment is to write about a summer olympic sport that you don't know about, as you can see I have choosed Judo.

Did you know that the meaning of judo is gentle way and is a martial art. The main focus is to take down or throw to the grown by grappling maneuver and make an opponent to submit by strangle, hold or choke. Even now they still do this type of blood sport.

This paragraph i’m going to talk about Judo’s culture. The famous culture that's behind judo is Japanese but has similar techniques, which was found in chinese martial arts. So of course the culture is chinese.

My Hobby

My hobby is farming, riding horses and motorbikes. I love these because every holidays I go to an amazing farm and learn how to do these favourite interests of mine.

The first hobby I'm going to write about is farming. First of all the owners of the farms are Uncle Chris (dairy milker) and Uncle Gene, who leases the Mamakumaru farm which is looked after by the Tainui trust. My favourite farm is my Uncle Chris’s because my cousins and I always milk the cows, but unfortunately, I don't go there much. My Uncle Gene’s farm is cool but I prefer Uncle Chris’s.

Riding motorbikes is really cool because you can go EXTREMELY fast on them. Both farms have two motorbikes each. My favourite bike is the shiny red honda crf 230 f, because it has a smooth clutch and it is fast. My second favourite is the lightening blue suzuki xt250.

My mum gets so angry at me because I keep on saying, " I so can't wait until the next holidays!!!"
Know you no what I get up to in the holidays.

Hollidays

This holiday I went to Tauwhare marae for a maori holiday programme, which my aunties and uncles ran. If you dont no were Tauwhare it's a place just out of Hamilton? I went because I've always wanted to meet all my couzins. The funny thing about maori holiday programmes is that its unorganized.

There were so many activities that we participated in like haka, sports, flax, bread making, farm, caving and many more. All of these activities were so cool. My favourite activity was the farm and haka.

Learning a new haka is always challenging for me but awesome. The haka we learnt was Ki oki oki ehe. It was a really cool haka. My favourite bit of haka is the actions because they look really cool.

One of our best activities out of everything was going to the farm. When we got there we had a karakia/ prayer. Then we split everyone into groups. Our first rotation was killing the pig, for the hangi. First we had to move the pigs into the small paddock. Then my grandfather shot it with a 22. Then he stuck it with a knife aka bleeding it. After the blood went out we carried it up in the old rusty wool shed. We hung it up with a hook and singed the hair. Our day was finished and we went back to the Marrae.
