Highlight of the Year

This Year has been a great year for me because Mrs Nua didn’t have to clip my ears. Its been pretty lagy but otherwise its been really good. My Highlight of the year is the year 8 camp because it was fun kickback and relaxing. It was so amazing because we got to go on the luge go to the agrodome and heaps more.

My camp Highlight was going on the luge. First you go up to the luge on a gondola. Once you have arrived wait and listen to the instructions. Pull back to stop and hold the handlebar forward to go. As soon as I knew what to do I quickly went zooming down the slippery steep hill. It said slow down because there was a corner. I hugged the left corner and carried on going. Once we got to the end of the track we went on a chairlift to get back to the top. I Managed to hustle me a ride. It was pretty funny because it said on the helmet Once Is never enough.

Camp Sparrow

On a nice beautiful bright sunny day, John, Jack and John and Jacks sister June decided to go camping for christmas. John was reading this outdoor magazine, it said Top ten holiday park, camp Sparrow, has a safe and fun beach, the local shops and obvcause a camp site. He sent a text out to Jack and June saying, I found a holliday park we can go to, check it out its called camp Sparrow. They all met up at John’s house with their gear packed and loaded onto the truck. Off they went with excitement.

They knew they weren’t far from the camp but didn’t know what road it was on. They all saw a big arrow about 50 meters down the road saying camp Sparrow take a right up the big hill. Chuga Chuga Chuga, their old rusty but buty truck went up the steep hill. “Yaaaaaaah” they all yelled, “We're finally here”. They set up their tents and made themselves at home. When they were finished they went to the beach and played volley-ball. “Ouch” June shouted as she touched the black burning hot sand. SMACK!!! as the ball rebounded of Jack’s hand and into the bush. Jack ran to go get the ball and heard someone or something whispering to him, he quickly looked up nervously and scanned the surface but no one was there. He ran back and quickly told the crew.

They were all worried and couldn’t get to sleep so they went for a look. They searched the bush up and down and didn’t see any sign of anything. They wondered if the reception had seen or heard anything but they hadn't. So they went out to town and checked if anything was strange but still no sign of anything.

It was time to go home after a long day until they saw their cousin’s car outside of a shop in town. They wondered if it was so they went into the store. They saw a man who looked like him hiding by they shelves where it said traps. So Jack went left and John went Right. It was him. He said “so you found me aye, I was spying on you because I wanted to come but you didn’t ask me.

My first day of school

Today we had 40 minutes to write about our first day of school. From looking at our writing we are going to set some writing goals for the term

The sun was up shining into my eyes through the tiny small windows in room 12 as I had to introduce myself. “Hi my name is Dillon” I said nervously, thinking that the students was going to laugh. After all it wasn’t too bad and I felt pretty comfortable too.

“It’s time to do some writing” M’s Mckinley said to all of us. I was pretty scared because I didn't really get taught that well from the previous school. It was really nerve racking, not knowing what to do. But as soon as she turned around and walked to me I felt even more scared not knowing what she was going to say. She asked me “do you have much experience about writing” I replied “not really” then she goes “well ok thats alright thats what this lesson is going to be about”. Ring!!! Ring!!! the bell went for morning tea. “Well have to do writing after morning tea” the teacher said.

Springbok Tour in Nz

“1 2 3 4 we don't want no Springbok tour”!!! cheered our united protest team. We held banners proudly in the air as we marched through the rampage. It almost felt like world war 3. We weren't allowed in the stadium so we ended up ripping the netting of the fence and raiding the field. All sorts of cans were getting thrown at us half full and full. We proudly carried on cheering at the top of our lungs.

Get of the field, the rugby fans shouted with frustration but we still held our mana as we were sitting down. A couple minutes later the police showed up and to be honest I was sacking it. I memed to myself I hope I don't go to jail but they didn't look like they were going to be nice so I ran and gapped it down the road. “Im safe” I said to myself.

The reason why all of this happened is because of the Springbok tour. I really didn't think they should have come because it caused a whole lot of drama and it also divided the county. I blamed it on Mr Muldoon (Nz Prime Minister)  because he was just selfish and just wanted votes. He didn't even care about blacks in South Africa not being able to vote.

After all the marching, fighting (RAGE) and more the protesting was all a success stopping the Hamilton game. I felt proud and well supported the whole way. We all cheered happily and walked away like nothing happened.

A farmer has 4 paddocks and 88 sheep in each paddock. How many sheep does he have. He has 352 sheep. Lave, Tana and I.

Yellow Hat - The things I enjoyed?

One thing that I really enjoyed about this creative polynesian art strand was carving into the wood, the reason why was because it was a first time experience and a good challenge.

Black Hat - Which things didn’t I like?

The thing I disliked was printing because you had to do it 6 times on a paper and that was only for one color.

Green Hat - What was something interesting about this week?

The thing that was really interesting for me was learning about the polynesian art and the hard pronouncing names.

White Hat - What did I learn?

One thing that I enjoyed learning was how to hold and use carving tools.

Maths Goal For Next Term

My Maths goal for next term is multiplication and long division, the reason why is because most of my math is that. By knowing my multiplication and long division it would make things much easier. The way I am going to try to succeed in that is taking more time to be focused and also do some at home.

Music

Music, music, music music is so important because it tells so many stories and because you can learn things all around the world. Another reason why I love music is because it keeps me company when i'm lonely (music is you only friend when you're lonely).

Entertaining:

When I'm bored the only thing that entertains me is music. The reason why it entertains me is because it’s so energetic by the beats vocals and the chords. My favourite thing that entertains me is watching the video of the song because I get to see new places, dance moves and styles. Music helps me to clean when I don't feel like to, especially my favorite artist and songs.

My Favourite:

My favourite artist would have to be Stan Walker and Troy Kingi but my favourite rap artist is Kendrick Lamar. My Favourite song is Twinz Eastside LBC, Money Trees and Heat Wave By Stan Walker and Troy Kingi.

Little Red

SIMILARITIES

In the traditional story little red riding hood was a good little girl. In the story I read little red was a girl that didn’t like to listen to her parents. She has to be bribed to do the smallest things around the house. Her parents asked her to go to her grandmothers house but she wouldn’t go, her parents gave her money just to take cheesecake to her grandmother.



CONTRAST



Little red has a bad temper and complains all the time she asked to do something. She was in the woods going to her grandmother's house when she saw the wolf. She started to run but the wolf was just behind her when she sprinted down to her gran house. Red waited for the wolf to run in the garden shed and she slam it. She rang the zoo and said “there's a wolf in my garden shed” “we are on the way”. She went in said and she saw a note on the bench. It said “Hi darling sorry about the ants I’m in the shed getting antrid”. The zoo people came with a net and a gun and they opened the shed door, the wolf was sleeping. The zookeeper told little red that wolfs only sleep with a full stomach but red just remembered the note it said "I am in the shed if you need me".

Rewena Bug

Our class, room 22 are studying the Rewena bread and the bug. To make a rewena bread you have to grow or make a bug. I bet you your thinking about a bug in your garden, well no. I will be explaining to you how to make one. We have found this awesome site called curious kai, which will tell us how to make a Rewena bread. Thanks to curious kai’s recipe.

The Ingredients you will need is:

-1 medium sliced potato

-2 cups of flour

-1 teaspoon of sugar

-lukewarm water, on hand/ if you dont no what lukewarm means, it means warm water. ex: babies bath water should be lukewarm.

The first step to making a bug you have to slice your potato and put it in a pot with one cup of water, when boiling put a lid over it and leave it until the potato is cooked. Leave it in a pot until it’s warm and don't empty the water. Mash it all up. Step 2 add your 2 cups of flour and 1 teaspoon of sugar. Mix until it's all combined like a pancake type of texture. If the mixture gets dry add warm water. Lumps are going to appear but don't worry because they disappear later on. Pour your mix into really clean big enough jar making sure theres enough space for it rise like a cake as you cover with a lid loosely. Store into a warm dry place. After a day or so it will need to have something to eat so put in a teaspoon of sugar and a half of cup of warm water. Once it starts to rise its time to make your bread.

Explain Reading task

WILL.I.AM

Our school is full of guesses wondering who is coming to give us and all the other Manaiakalani cluster schools a koha. I really hate guesses but I think it is going to be Stan Walker or Mr tall Jacobson. The reason why I thought it was Stan Walker and Mr Jacobson is because our principal said that it was someone good at singing and that inspires singing. But as soon as I saw all of the cameras I knew it wasn't Mr J or Stan and knew straight away it was someone really famous.

Waiting and waiting for this celebrity that we thought was coming, we were surrounded with media cameras in every directions.

Full with excitement hearing that a famous singer was coming to donate us this big koha. “It was my lucky day” I thought. Sitting there thinking to myself, who could it be ?... But the first singer that popped into my mind, that I thought was coming was Asap Rocky.

Suddenly Mr Burt was ready to announce who this celeb was going to be.  As soon as he pronounced he was a one of the Black Eye Peas Band, straight away I clicked in my head it was going to be Will. I. Am.

Filled with happiness as Will.I.Am set foot in our school hall, crowded with Pt England students. Will.I.Am said he was going to give us a koha to help out the manaikalani cluster with our education. We were surprised when he said he was going to give us a 100,000 dollar check.
